Tiger Woods has revealed that he will be changing his golf clubs for this year’s Open at St.Andrews.
Woods, who has used the Scotty Cameron Newport Putter for over 11 years now and has won 13 major championships with, has decided to use a different putter-the Nike Method.
Woods says the change has been prompted by the slower greens at St Andrews and he feels the Method putter gets the ball rolling more quickly.
It is not clear if the move to this putter is permanent or just for the Open at St. Andrews.
The Method putter was used to win two major tournaments last year and with Tiger now using it, it is set to be a big seller.
The low loft of the putter means that the golf ball gets rolling more quickly. The technology behind the putter is called polymetal grove technology which increases the launch angle of the golf ball.
It's one of those things where I've always struggled on slower greens,' Woods explained. 'I've always putted well on faster greens. This putter does come off faster. It rolls the ball better and rolls it faster. I've had to make very little adjustment in how hard I am hitting it compared to if I had my older putter.'
